My dear friend Gloria’s life partner, husband, father to her stellar children, and friend, left this plane on Wednesday, June 13th. I had the blessing of being with him before he passed over and at the moment he left his body. While I am deeply saddened by the loss, my memories of him are crisp and wonderful. Here’s a photo of Ken, taken at his lovely daughter’s wedding.
New beads on eBay, Monday, June 11th! Clinton, shimmery blues. Oh, yeah!
Lately, I’ve been listening to Bruce Springsteen’s Wrecking Ball, rather obsessively, I might add. I love this collection of songs so much. It’s deeply moving, certainly up there with some of my all-time favorites.
Have you listened to it yet? Do yourself a favor and get inspired. It’s what this collection of music was made for.
More soon – it’s been a busy month. Oh, and we now have a fence for Bert. He’s very happy. The moles are not.
is one big celebration in our world. My Mother turned 89 this year! Yay, Mom!
Mom at 89!
Then, there’s Mother’s Day, and then, The Daughter’s Birthday! Whee!
We’ve had family in to visit which is always lovely, too. And that, my friends, is what I’ve been up to lately.
Love to you!
Holy cow! It’s been crazy busy here. One reason is…
Bert, the Australian Shepherd rescue dog
We have a new family member. He’s a sixty-three pound Aussie Shepherd. He’s a moose, too. Love him madly! We’ve been spending time getting to know each other. He’s getting a grip on the house routine and we’re getting used to some of his behaviors. Some are endearing, some, not so much.
He’s totally food motivated – surprise! That makes for easier training in some regard, but one cannot leave food unattended. At. All. He counter surfs and table surfs. He has also figured out that human treat-dispensers sometimes leave goodies in their unattended pockets. Easy score! We now have three jackets with chewed out pockets. He’s nothing if not determined and patient.
Oh, and I’ve had a moment or two to make some beads. More on that later.
I have no idea where this week went. It was a weird one, that’s for sure. Mostly boring equipment failures, odd things breaking, all manner of strange. Thankfully, I was able to finally get to the torch and make some bead goodness. These will be on eBay Monday, March 26th, starting a 10AM PST. Wheee!

So, I had no satellite internet last week. On the bright side, I got to use dial-up. Yes, dial-up still exists. ~sigh~ It’s not pretty.
The great news is that I have access now and I’m pretty thrilled. Here’s some of what I’ve been making lately:
Mortimer - on eBay now
Maya - also on eBay
Ah, I love my job! I purchased Amy Kinsch’s Webbing Tutorial. This technique is so much fun to play with! Love! Here’s one of the beads I made with this technique:
and one of my mixed neutral-based beads
I really like to mix colors right on the mandrel, while I am making the bead. It seems that I am not a huge fan of using twisties or murrini, although I have used them. Typically, I wind up mixing them into the molten glass to see what new color I can see. I love color and pattern, and that’s usually where I land. It makes me happy.
I’m very, very lucky that people buy my work. I’d make it all anyway, but I really appreciate the support my customers offer me. Feeling the love. Yes, indeed.
This week I played with silver glasses and clear glass. Some of my lovely clients asked for more lentils and some round beads. The rounds are coming, but here are a few lentils that will be on eBay starting Monday, February 27th.
and this one in on auction now
