Winding down the year

So, it’s been a busy December! I hope all of you have a wonderful holiday season. I want to take a moment to thank all my fabulous customers for their support this year. Thank you, thank you, thank you. You’re fabulous.

Here’s a little Bert love.

A little glitter for the season

While many are ready to celebrate the various winter holidays, I thought I’d pay homage be making beads with dichroic glass – a sparkling wonder of glass.

It’s that time of year

Time for Abundance Auctions! These auctions are a result of me cleaning out my bead box and sharing the love.  There are three of these going on now – one for focals, one for disks, and one for round and button beads. Over 500 beads in all. Oh, yeah, that’s abundance!

An auction for The Red Cross

Our friends on the East coast are reeling from Hurricane Sandy. I’m running an auction, the proceeds of which will go to The Red Cross. 100% of the money will go to them. You can see the auction here.

I know it doesn’t seem like much in the face of the disaster they’re dealing with, but, every little bit helps.

Changes and things final…

So, it’s been a long several weeks. On September 25th, my Mother, also known as “The Mom”, passed away. Gratefully, she wasn’t ill. She passed away while watching baseball and having a snack. My Mother was a little over 89 years old.  I’m still processing all this – and may be processing for a long while. Anyway, that’s where I’ve been. The sadness and numbness is lifting.  Life is short, my loves. Enjoy as much as you can.

Love,
Deborah

Cynthia Hass Bishop made these amazing necklaces with beads she purchased from me. I am in awe of the beauty of the design. She makes the beads look so good. Ah, lovely!

Happy September!

Yes, I know it’s mid-September. Ah well. Better late than never in this case.

I’ve been on a large lentil kick lately. It’s funny how that goes. I’ll make dozens for a while and then none for a long while. In any event, you can see them on my eBay listings.

Dog days of summer.

We’re whining a bit about the heat this week. Yeah, I know it’s pointless, but there you have it. The Pacific Northwest doesn’t get that hot too often, at least on the west side of the mountains. We hit 90 degrees several times this week – felt hotter. The Mom is happy – she loves the hot weather. Ugh.

I’ve had to adjust my torch schedule because of the heat, too. I get up very early or torch late at night. Here are a few of this week’s beads:

New beads and classes for Bert!

So, Bert, our wonderful Aussie had his first obedience class today. We want to work on recall. I want him to come always, mainly for his safety.

Pam, his new teacher, thought he might be deaf because he’s a white merle, or double merle. Being a double merle is not desirable in Aussie land, but they’re out there. Often, they are born deaf and/or blind. Bert is neither, thankfully. Since he’s a rescue, we have no idea about his early history or breeding. No matter – we love him dearly.

Bert listens attentively to his new teacher.

And then, of course, beads. I’ve been trying out  some new designs with different colors. I wanted to use something besides my usual palette of silver glasses with neutrals. Some of these do have silvered glasses in them.

New beads this week.

I’m back at the torch, in body and mind. Last week was a challenge. Anyway, I’m making organic focal beads this week. It wasn’t planned; it’s just the way things rolled this week.
